2 days before we leave to start our hike, while we're packing our gear, after spending 3 weeks bumming around at Heather's parents' apartment, her mom says: "So you're really going to do this?" This was followed up with, "Do you have a change of underwear?"
"I should have done it a long time ago now I'm too chicken."
"I wanted to hike the Appalachian Trail, but I've changed my mind, now I'm gonna get a camper."
Parting ways with Heather's Cousin, best advice yet..
"Remember, only you can prevent forest fires."
"I wouldn't do that if I could."
"Well you could do that anytime."
"I wanted to do that about thirty years ago and didn't get around to it. I probably won't do it now."
"You're going to do the whole thing?" "How?..what?..when?...that's..."
"I think if you can, you should go for it, hell ya!"
"Can I ask a personal question...do you have a job?"
"Ahhhh man!!!!! I soooooooo want to do this!!!!!
I was just at REI yesterday looking through AT guidebooks for the different sections. I'm very jealous! Someday...."
"Have fun."
"Wow that's awesome, always wanted to do that ever since the boy scouts."
"That's awesome!!"
"Watch out for bears, don't get eaten."
"Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware you were planning this, but I’m impressed! "
"I have wanted to do that for a long time. At one point I could have. Good luck I have read that no matter how much you prepare you will get in shape along the way."
"Now I know!"
"We will most definitely keep up with you on your blog. I was just reading appalachiantrail.org; that is one incredible undertaking... Anyways, we wish you the best on your trek. Stay safe, stay healthy, stay hydrated, and don't forget to stretch!"
